Element status values

Portfolio Manager uses the status field of elements to say which are part of your baseline, and which are branched or future versions.

In this documentation, we will refer to four important states. Note that you can set the values used for these states to your local standards, for example, to use ones which use your national language. You can change these in the settings

  • Implemented – Elements with this state are part of your baseline model. It does not matter where in the model they are located.
  • Proposed – this is the default initial state of EA elements (and EA function) so this is used for elements which are newly-created in a project, or which have been branched from other ‘Implemented’ or ‘Planned’ elements
  • Planned – these are elements which have passed some significant milestone, and are very likely to become ‘Implemented’ in the future. Other projects can ‘branch’ from these elements, but this creates a dependency between their projects.
  • Archived – when one ‘Implemented’ element is replaced by another, the old one goes into an ‘Archived’ state. It is disconnected from all other elements, and is put into a special folder (see settings) just in case it is needed again.
